Mar 22 - 28

Monday, March 22 - Simon has done a ton of shopping around online and in stores and finally got his hands on some cabinets for our basement for a good price. The only catch is that he has to put them together himself. He has been working on them and they are really coming together! I am so excited to get them in place, get appliances, and finally be completely done with the basement!

Tuesday, March 23 - It was one of my favorite days of the month - Book Club!! Debby Asay hosted this month and she did karaoke! It was super cute and definitely matched a scene from the book when they threw a "Valentine's Party" (no anywhere near Valentine's Day) and did karaoke. What a fun night with these fun girls! (For future reference, the book was "How to Walk Away" by Katherine Center)

Wednesday, March 24 - I'm pretty darn sure I broke my toe today! I went downstairs to take the vacuum down and grab some toilet paper from the storage room. I was walking toward the storage room without looking where I was going and rammed my middle toe right into a free weight on the floor. I was home alone but I screamed out loud, it hurt SO bad! So yep, it's been taped to the toe next to it for days and it still hurts! In other news though, I went to lunch with mom, grandma, Jenni, Marisa, and Meg today! It's been a LOOOONG year waiting for this day to finally arrive! Hooray for out lunch again!

Thursday, March 25 - Simon went today to get his first Covid shot. We thought about going together but then chose not to in case either one of us got sick from it or had a bad reaction. I will get my first dose next week. It's finally the beginning of the end.

Friday, March 26 - Even though the temperature is only 40°, Zack had his first soccer game of the season! They dominated this game! They are so good! I think when a team has been together as long as this team, they start getting to know how each other plays and they anticipate each other's movements. It was really fun to watch but freezing cold! :) It was worth it to see Zack's not one, but TWO goals!

Saturday, March 27 - We had a fun and busy Saturday! It started out with another soccer game (Zack's team won again). Then Simon went to Dave & Viv's to help them put in a new backsplash. I stayed home with the kids until it was time for me to go to a Citrus Pear class I signed up for as a donation to the Slimak family (whose daughter is going through chemo for leukemia right now). I walked in fully expecting not to know anyone and who was there? Jinger Adams, her mom Julie, aunt Charmaine, and daughter Macee. I worked with Jinger when I was in high school at her scrapbook store and worked with her for many years. I haven't seen her in forever so it was super fun to catch up and exchange numbers. I am so glad I happened to sign up for their class! Tonight, Kendra babysat Kam and Kayla so when I got home, I got to see them for a few minutes before their parents came to get them. What a day!

Sunday, March 28 - Happy birthday to Kendra and Nick! We got together to celebrate with the Pearson's and had a great time! These kiddos got spoiled by their grandparents and aunts & uncles!

Mar 15 - 21

Monday, March 15 - We woke up to a pretty horrible sound this morning. At 6:45, Nick, Kendra, and Zack were screaming...like the house was on fire or there was an intruder. Simon and I jumped out of bed from being sound asleep and ran out to them. They were screaming "His arm! His arm!" I looked at Zack and his arm, expecting blood and a protruding bone, but...there was nothing. The story was that Kendra got mad at Zack so Zack punched Kendra but he hurt is arm. The way he was holding his arm and because he's double-jointed, Kendra thought his arm was super broken. To make matters way worse, they woke Ricki up to that and she was freaked right out! After school, I made them write her apology notes for scaring her so badly. Not the best way to start the day!

Tuesday, March 16 - Our friends that lived in our ward and only moved a few months ago, the Slimak's, recently found out that their daughter Ivy has leukemia. I didn't know what to do for them so we took them a bucket of sunshine. :) Sadly, they just found out that her first round of chemo did not go as planned and her cancer is worse than they thought so they will have to be much more aggressive moving forward. We pray for sweet Ivy every single day!

Wednesday, March 17 - Happy St. Patrick's Day! We didn't have a traditional Irish meal but we did have Lucky Charms for breakfast, green Jell-O, green salad, and green asparagus for dinner and everyone (besides Kendra) wore green. We don't do a whole lot for this holiday but it sure is fun just to have something to celebrate for fun!

Thursday, March 18 - Zack has been begging to play with these two buddies for a while now. I'm so glad we were finally able to make it happen! I'm glad he has such good friends around him. I think that is so important.

Friday, March 19 - We have Trevan for the weekend. Yay for another big brother! :) For Zack, he is a REALLY big brother! Haha! Trev is huge! He is muscular and 6'2"! And so so sweet with my little kiddos. Tonight, Trevan beat me home for curfew. I spent the evening on Amie's couch scrapbooking. We had such a nice time working on our scrapbooks, talking, and just being together. I love my BFF time!

Saturday, March 20 - I got the rare privilege to have Trevan at my house to get ready for his high school prom. He took his cute girlfriend Anni. He looked so handsome! I am glad we got to be there and send him off for his special date.

Sunday, March 21 - Liz Madsen had me try the most yummy peanut butter bars at her house so I got the recipe and tried them. Mine did not turn out nearly as good as hers but man, they are good...and addicting. I will make them again the future and try to make them not look like an animal pooped on the top. 😂

Mar 8 - 14

Monday, March 8 - Well, even though it is actually Gary's birthday today, happy birthday to Nick again! We weren't exactly in the market for a new car but we know it is coming up because before we know it, Nick will be driving! Dad bought Grandma's charcoal Honda so he was selling this green one. We snagged it because it is the perfect starter car for our kids! Even though it is a "family car", we fully anticipate Nick to drive it until he goes on his mission. Yay for a new car!

Tuesday, March 9 - I was supposed to do my mom's toenails today and I made the mistake of telling her that my schedule was wide open. That gave the universe the idea that we should throw an emergency room visit in the mix. My mom was going to give Grandma a shower and had her standing at the sink in the bathroom. Grandma went to turn around but Mom said "wait Norma, let me get the water hot and spray down your chair so that it isn't cold". Right after Mom turned around, she hear the thud - Grams was on the ground. :( She said she was okay but her leg hurt up by her hip and mom was really worried that she had broken her hip. After 5 hours in the ER, an x-ray, a CT scan, blood work, an EKG, and about 5 medical professionals in and out, we found out that she had broken her greater trochanter bone but not her hip; more importantly, not the neck of the femur that links the head to the trochanter bone. They admitted her into the hospital to further assess her situation and start her down the road to rehab. She will also need to go to a rehab facility for a few weeks to get strong again so that she can walk. Poor Grandma. And poor Mom. It's just been one thing after another. :(

Wednesday, March 10 - I had an interesting doctor's appointment today. I went to see an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat). It was recommended by my neurologist because a medication that we are trying for headaches has caused ringing in my ears and she is worried about my ears. I also get a lot of pain and pressure in my left ear when I have a migraine. The results of this appointment were interesting. I found out that everything in my sinuses and ears look great (which I figured but it was nice to get checked out anyway) but I found out that I have some hearing loss in the higher frequencies in my left ear. He said that the hearing loss is not caused by the ringing in my ears but it's actually vice versa, the ringing is caused by the hearing loss. However, he is not worried that it is rapidly declining or anything like that so he basically said that I have to live with it for now and it might not be a bad idea to come back in two years and make sure it isn't getting worse. Gives me a new thing to think about. Haha!

Thursday, March 11 - Bless her heart for this picture but Kendra got new bands on her braces so we took this close-up. Also because they put a "power chain" on her two front teeth and her gap is already gone! They also put a spring on her lower teeth to make room for that lower one to come forward. It is such a process but fun to watch her teeth come together and get straight.

Friday, March 12 - Our sweet friends invited us to their cabin for an overnight stay. It was us, the Moon's, and the Olson's. We had a great first day up there! We did a lot of hanging out and just visiting - which was so so nice! I am so grateful for these awesome friends in my life.

Saturday, March 13 - We had a good night and the perfect morning with a hot breakfast and good friends. The kids all brought their snow gear and wanted to go sledding. The good news at this cabin is that sledding is only a few steps outside! The kids had a blast and enjoyed every moment of being together and sledding with their friends! Again, so grateful for the Moon's and their friendship!

Sunday, March 14 - We had an opportunity to take the kids to Grandma's house one last time before we sell it. They were surprised at the "re-decorating" Harlee did in the basement but they also had fun reminiscing about their memories in the house. It is bitter-sweet walking through the empty house. All the memories wrapped up and swept out like the furniture that was always there in that house.

Mar 1 - 7

Monday, March 1 - To welcome in the month of March, Ricki asked me to do St. Patrick's Day nails on her. I couldn't resist! Especially with the sparkly rainbow tattoo that she was sportin' on her hand!

Tuesday, March 2 - Some things just come together and it's obvious that it's for a reason! My parents are trying to get Grandma Howard's house cleared out so that they can list it on the market. Homes are selling really quick and for a lot of money right now so they want to sell it now while the market is hot. In order to do that, we needed to get everything out; including the old piano. Luckily, Marisa has been watching KSL for a piano to buy for her kids! Win-win! She is going to hire some piano movers to come and get this out of Grandma's basement. We're excited to get it cleared out and she's excited for a free piano! :)

Wednesday, March 3 - Kendra's Young Women's class did a really cute activity tonight. It was called "When Life Gives You Lemons". The leaders dropped off three lemons to each girl and they had to make something with it. Kendra did lip gloss and body scrub. Then, they either took their creation to show the group or just showed pictures. After they all shared, they made a sugar scrub together. It was a cute and creative activity for these cute girls. I'm so glad they have such great leadership!

Thursday, March 4 - Nick's 15th birthday is coming right up! It is technically his year to have a party so we racked our brains trying to figure out what to do. He finally decided on an escape room and that sounded great to me! He invited 7 of his friends and they all went to Alcatraz Escape Games. They split the group in two and they had to work separately but together to finish in the hour. One group did finish but the other didn't. No matter which group they were in, all the boys seemed to have a lot of fun! after the escape room, we came back to our house and had peanut butter bars and ice cream. So fun!

Friday, March 5 - I was running around like crazy all morning but around 2:30 this afternoon, I finally hunkered down and got baking! I made this cake, a dozen cookies, and two dozen cupcakes for sweet Brielle's baptism for tomorrow. I hope she likes it!

Saturday, March 6 - We had such a great day!! First of all, happy 15th birthday to our big Nick! I can't believe he is already old enough to get a learner's permit and start driving us around! Our family got to watch Brielle's baptism take place over Zoom since only immediate family and grandparents were invited to the in-person baptism (thanks Covid). Trevan baptized Brielle which was so neat! After the baptism, we went to Jenni & BJ's house for the Confirmation and then a luncheon. It was so fun to be there together! We ran the kids home and then Simon & I went to Hale Theater to see "The Play that goes Wrong". We took mom and dad's tickets because they are not quite in the clear with their vaccines. On the way home, we picked up dinner at Chick-Fil-A which was Nick's request for his birthday. What a day - full of fun and great memories!

Sunday, March 7 - We got to have a Pearson party! Alexis made raspberry cinnamon rolls to celebrate Gary, Nick, and Viv's birthdays. It's birthday season in the Pearson fam!
