Sunday, July 27
The basement is a little closer to being done. Simon and Dave have worked hard to get the sheetrock on the walls and get ready to tape and mud. We're hoping that the next few steps will go quickly and that we'll soon be picking out paint colors!

Simon made it to his 10-year anniversary with MACU! His VP brought in treats, balloons, a nice card, and a gift card all in recognition of this accomplishment. He was recognized during the week but his actual anniversary date is the 26th. He also got a brand new iPad Air! Good job babe!
While Simon and Dave slaved away in the basement, we met Amie and her kids at her apartment's pool and took the kids swimming. They had a blast! And of course, it was so nice to visit with Amie. Love my bestie!

This was the kids' last official day of their summer break so Jenni and I wanted to take them to do something fun. We met at a park in Riverton, had lunch, then let the kids slide down the hills on ice blocks. They had a lot of fun! I enjoyed watching them because it was so different. I don't think my kids have ever been ice-blocking but it holds so many fun memories from my childhood. We all enjoyed our last Friday together before school! :)

Happy Pioneer Day Utah! We had some old fireworks in the garage from last year so the kids (and the daddy) had fun setting those off. Our neighbors were all out lighting fireworks so we walked down and visited with all of them. We just had one scary moment where Zack and a dog were running in the road and almost got hit by a car. Luckily, the speedy driver was able to step on the breaks quick enough to avoid a tragedy.

Simon has been promising Jake and Nick a sleepover in the backyard since before Ricki was born. They were finally able to do that tonight because Simon had the next day off for Pioneer Day. Jake came over with his sleeping bag and pillow and they set the tent up in the backyard. Unfortunately, it rained and thundered on them at 4:00 am!
I had to post about two things today because I'm so darn excited about this lamp! I had some returns at Hobby Lobby and I've had my eye on this lamp for months for Zacky's fire truck room. I finally broke down and used my return money to put toward this lamp. I just love it so much! His room is going to be so cool when it's all done!!

The South Towne Expo Center hosted the Days of '47 Float Preview Party so Jenni and I loaded up all 10 kids (our 8 plus the two she babysits) and went to check it out. It was so fun! We topped our day off with lunch at McDonald's and let them run around the Play Place for a bit.

I've wanted to spend time in my backyard since about January so when my kids begged me to get out the pool and slip 'n slide, I couldn't say no. They played outside for at least 3 hours...maybe longer! I sat in the shade and enjoyed some time catching up on my journal and watching them play. I was inside as we were starting to clean up and heard Kendra start screaming. My heart sunk and I knew exactly what had happened - she got stung by a bee! Poor girl...it was bad. The stinger was still in and about half of the bee's butt too! She was so sad. The only good news is that the bee is long-dead by now! That fact at least made her smile a little.

  1. I can't believe Simon has already been at MACU for 10 years! Wow, that went by fast! I, now, have not been working there for 8 years. Crazy!!!
