Feb 22 - 28

Monday, February 22 - All four kids had dentist appointments this morning at 11:00 so by the time they finished with those, we grabbed lunch, and I got them all back to school, I only had about an hour before the junior high carpool needed to be picked up. I decided to go treat myself to a pedicure. It has been over a year since I had one and it felt oh so nice!

Tuesday, February 23 - Trevan bought himself a brand new (to him) truck! He is so excited to no longer have to drive the car his parents bought him. I thought it was fine but he thinks this truck is the bomb! :) And check out our furry little friend that made an appearance during the night. It's a racoon that is definitely as big as a cat! Scary!

Wednesday, February 24 - Jenni sent us a picture of a new hairstyle that Brielle loves so we tried it out on Ricki. Love it!

Thursday, February 25 - Kendra has been complaining a lot in the evenings that her eyes hurt and she can't focus very well. She's never had an eye exam so I took her in this morning (at 7:30 am) and got an eye exam. She wanted to see what her eyes looked like dilated so I took a close up. Haha!

Friday, February 26 - Big day with Grandma today! I took her to the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy to get her second shot. They did a great job! Everyone was so kind and the man at the end even picked grandma up from her wheelchair, put her in a golf cart, drove us to our car, and then picked her up and put her in the car! Haha! It was awesome!! Then, we headed out to Karen's and got gram's hair done. She feels like a whole new lady! I know our time is short so I am thankful for the time I get to spend with her.

Saturday, February 27 - We got a call first thing this Saturday morning to go down to Grandma Howard's house and get the things from her house that were willed to us as well as anything else that we might like. I was extra excited about two things. First, I got grandma's divided pickles and olives dish. This is a huge childhood memory for me because we always had pickles and olives with Sunday dinners, grandma usually brought them, and we always used this dish! Secondly, I have been wanting to get canning stuff. Like a big canning bath, wide mouth funnel, etc. I took all of grandma's canning stuff so it will be extra-special to me when I am canning that I am using the things that grandma used to can food for her family. :)

Sunday, February 28 - Well, here we go! I was called to the Primary Presidency and got set apart today. This is our new presidency on our first day together! We have Mirinda Losee as President, Riquel Heap as First Counselor, I am Second Counselor, and Becky Te'o as Secretary. I am so excited for this new calling and can't wait to get started!

Feb 15 - 21

Monday, February 15 - Kendra had her cute friend, Mads, over to hang out. Ricki wanted to put together a treasure hunt for the girls so I helped her. Kendra and Mads were so cute following the clues and humoring Ricki for a little while. Later on, Ricki and I played a few rounds of Tenzi. She loves the game and I do too because it is fun for adults and children alike.

Tuesday, February 16 - We love the Mortensen family for so many reasons! Kendra's favorite reason, however, is that their older teenage daughters hand down their clothes to her! When Tammy texted me asking if Kendra would like a bag of clothes to go through, I immediately took a picture of Kendra showing Tam that she is wearing Summer's old shirt and jacket! Yay for new (to us) clothes!

Wednesday, February 17 - It didn't really snow in December or January so leave it to February to get mass amounts of snow! I took this picture walking up to Liz's front door. We got several inches overnight! Ricki had a book report to do and had to choose a book. We read a few before we landed on this one, "Jumping Jacky". This is a book from my childhood that I read over and over with my mom. Ricki loved it and could even read it herself! Oh the memories!

Thursday, January 18 - I haven't had much opportunity to volunteer at school this year because they have a very limited number of parents that are allowed in the school at one time (thanks Covid). So when Ricki's teacher asked if I could come in for an hour or so and take "old" pictures of each kid for 100's day, I jumped on the chance! Check out Ricki in 50 years! Haha!! Tonight, we took Zack out for his birthday dinner. His only request was that we go somewhere that he could get a steak so of course, we went to Texas Roadhouse! He was in little-guy heaven! Happy birthday (several months late) Zack!

Friday, February 19 - Zack had a full day of friends! He started out at Chase's house, then went to Anna's house, and then they ended up at our house! I love these kids!! He had a little mishap at Anna's house though. He was running up some rocks and fell. He didn't realize he had scraped his leg so bad but when he put his basketball shorts on, he realized how bad his scrape was. Ouch!

Saturday, February 20 - Goofy Ricki girl got my phone to take a picture of Zack and I playing this game but when I looked on my phone, I had several close-up selfies of her face. Haha!

Sunday, February 21 - At church today, they had all of the youth presidents speak on unity. Kendra got up there and spoke like and old pro! She did a wonderful job! Please note that I didn't actually take a picture in the chapel. I screenshot this from the YouTube stream for at-home viewing. :) I don't know if that makes it better but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab a shot of her up there.

Feb 8 - 14

Monday, February 8 - We had our big spring photo shoot today. We had to be in Alpine by 9:30 and we were non-stop from the moment we got there until we left around 4:30! None of us ate lunch so we went to the Blue Lemon on the way home to eat. It was such an exhausting day, I crashed on the couch when I got home! I'm really glad that we are done with it and I think we got some great pictures!

Tuesday, February 9 - Kendra has her new braces on again and she has an expander on the top of her mouth. We turn it one rotation every night. I feel bad for her but it is giving her a big gap between her front two teeth. It is a good thing that masks are required at school and out in public. Haha! :)

Wednesday, February 10 - This cute girl has been working so hard to pass off her Super Speed 100. It is a book of the 100 most used words in the English language. She got through all 100 readings but then has to pass off a list of 100 words in less than 1 minute at the end. We have tried it several times and she was finally able pass it off tonight! Way to go Rix!!

Thursday, February 11 - Since I was with BJ and Jenni on Saturday and BJ started showing signs of Covid that evening and then tested positive this week, I got tested just to be safe. I haven't worked since Monday in an effort to quarantine and keep Liz and Marisa safe. Now that my test came back negative, I can resume life a little and not be so afraid of spreading it. Now, to get the McCullough's back up and running. I hope they all get over it super quickly. These cute kids came home with bags full of candy and both got new books too. Our school did not allow treats to be passed around classes so in lieu of that, the PTA put together these cute bags filled with treats. They were so happy when they came home from school! Ricki read her book to Simon, Kendra, and I (individually) all in one night! :)

Friday, February 12 - Mom and Grandma Howard ran out some Valentine treats for the kids (and one for me to open on Valentine's Day from dad). The kids were pretty excited so they didn't wait until Sunday to open them. :) I got a Valentine "treat" (for myself) and it was delivered today. The first time I saw this shirt on Indigo and Sage, I loved it! They put it on clearance so I nabbed it for myself! I guess I'm just a sucker for a ruffle/puffy sleeve!

Saturday, February 13 - Kendra was invited to a pedicure party with a good friend of hers, Madison. She had a blast! This afternoon, Simon and I went on a little Valentine's date. We had a yummy dinner at Chili's then brought dinner home for the kids. Tonight, Grandma and Jim surprised us with a cookie cake on our porch. It is so cute but even more yummy!!

Sunday, February 14 - Happy Valentine's Day! We decided to have a special steak dinner to celebrate followed up by chocolate fondue. We ate our fondue while we had a Zoom call with the family to celebrate Halle and Brielle's birthday. It's been such a fun evening!

Feb 1 - 7

Monday, February 1 - Kendra's school got shut down for the week due to the number of cases of active Coronavirus cases so we took advantage of her being out of school. After I worked, I picked her up and we ran a bunch of errands and went to lunch at Village Baker. I love spending one-on-one time with each of my kids! (And she is an extra-fun shopping partner.)

Tuesday, February 2 - I spent a lot of my day baking cookies for tomorrow's Young Women cookie Zoom class. I baked the whole first batch without any problems but then had to just get the second batch ready and put in the fridge so that I could take Nick to the doctor. He has this funky nail that I have been concerned about so we had it checked out. The doc thinks it is from a previous virus or injury to the nail bed and that it will eventually go away on it's own...fingers crossed! When we got home, I rolled out and baked the second batch of cookies. When they came out, I could tell something was off with them. They just didn't look right so I took a taste of one and they definitely did not taste right either! I finally realized what I had done. I forgot to add the sugar! To the SUGAR cookies! Oops! Instead of each Young Woman getting 3 cookies to practice on, they all got 2 because I was not about to make a third batch for the day! :(

Wednesday, February 3 - It took quite a bit of work but I got all of these cute cookie kits ready and out to all of Class 1 (Beehives) before our Zoom call started at 7:00 pm. I showed the girls how to pipe the edging around the cookie then fill each cookie with royal icing. I wish they had three cookies to practice on because I felt like it was a little short but I think they had a good time. I loved being "with" my girls again and enjoyed seeing the creations that they came up with on their cookies.

Thursday, February 4 - What a week! Bunco was at my house tonight. It was fun to have it here but a little bit stressful cleaning up from all the cookie fun we had last night and getting everything set up for bunco tonight. Everything went without a hitch though and I was able to enjoy the evening with my friends despite the stress of it. I photo bombed Jenni and Meg's picture and I'm so glad I did because that is the only picture that got taken at bunco. :)

Friday, February 5 - Marisa took me on an adventure first thing this morning. We went and met up with Courtney from "Cakes by Courtney". She's a super cute girl and a super famous Instagrammer. Marisa makes a lot of her cakes and I just like watching what she does because she is really talented. She's been on shows like Good Morning America and Rachel Ray. It was fun and exciting to meet her (although it was also cold and windy). We're going to keep trying for the next few Fridays because the first 10-20 people actually get a free cake from her! SO fun!

Saturday, February 6 - Happy birthday to Halle & Brielle! They had a fun baking birthday party at Jenni's today. I went to help out and to show them some simple techniques to frost cupcakes. It was super fun and I was glad I got to be a part of it. We gave them half of their birthday gift; baby doll diaper bags. They will get their other half next Sunday at their family Zoom birthday party.

Sunday, February 7 - Are you ready for some football?? Today was the super bowl and we were invited to go to Ryan and Ashley's to watch the big game. It was the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay pretty much slaughtered KC. :( There was an unusual occurrence, a man ran through the field right before a play started. They didn't show much of it on TV but the pictures, YouTube videos, and memes after the show were pretty great! Haha!
